The Cats may add another high-profile name to their quarterback room.
Every few minutes new news pops up about someone either coming to, transferring out of, or committing to the Kentucky Wildcats.
The basketball and football programs have both grown and been successful over the last few seasons, making them a hot-spot destination for players in many sports. With the Cats being in the SEC, their football program is one many players desire to be at.
With several quarterbacks already on the roster for this upcoming season, Mark Stoops’ squad may continue to add to it. They are set to host UCLA transfer quarterback Collin Schlee on a visit.
“Kentucky is hosting UCLA quarterback transfer Collin Schlee for an official visit Wednesday, a source confirmed the report that originated from the detective work in a group chat of Kentucky fans. Schlee entered the transfer portal on April 4 and has one year of eligibility remaining,” Josh Edwards of 247 Sports wrote.
Schlee, a 6-foot-3 dual-threat quarterback, spent last season with UCLA. He spent the previous three seasons with Kent State in the MAC. In his final season with the Golden Flashes, he threw for 2,109 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, ending with five interceptions as well.
At UCLA this past season, Schlee completed 25/47 passes for 217 yards (53.2%) and two touchdowns with two picks. He had 42 carries for 425 yards (10.1 avg) and three scores.
His ability to do it all makes him an intangible asset, and one Stoops could likely use in a plethora of ways, perhaps as a Wildcat QB to keep defenses on their toes and take some pressure off Brock Vandagriff, who will be a college starter for the first time in his career.
Schlee would make a great addition, especially in a high-octane conference like the SEC, where you need to score points in bunches to stay competitive.
