The nation’s top-ranked point guard has set a commitment date, and Kentucky is one of four finalists.
Dior Johnson, the No. 3 overall prospect in the 247Sports player rankings, is set to announce his decision on June 25. UK joins Oregon, Washington and the National Basketball League – the premier men’s professional basketball league in Australia and New Zealand – in the five-star guard’s final list. He has cut Alabama from his list after including the Crimson Tide in his final five.
Alex Karamanos of The Circuit was the first to break the news.

Johnson, a consensus top-15 prospect in the class of 2022, previously committed to Syracuse in February 2020 before decommitting in November.
“Good length and stature for a point guard,” 247Sports’ Jerry Meyer said of the Kentucky target. “Quick athlete with superb body control. Has tremendous instincts as a driver and passer. Delivers the difficult pass. Finishes the difficult shot. High level lay up maker. Has multiple fade away moves to his right shoulder. Shoots the ball well enough to be considered a three-level scorer. Has potential to rebound his position well and be a dangerous versatile defender.”
Johnson is one of eight players in the rising senior class with a scholarship offer from Kentucky, joining Emoni Bates, Jalen Duren, Chris Livingston, Jaden Bradley, Skyy Clark, Brandon Miller and Shaedon Sharpe. Clark is UK’s lone commitment in the class of 2022 at this time.
Kentucky was a surprise addition to Johnson’s list back in May, with the five-star guard having to go out of his way to confirm he had an offer from the program after minimal public contact and mutual interest between the two parties. Now, UK is in the final four with just three weeks to go until his decision date.
Will John Calipari be able to pull off the late upset?
