A number of Wildcats from Mark Pope’s first team could hear their names called this week.
It’s amazing to think that several Kentucky Wildcats could hear their names called this week at the NBA Draft, considering the lower-than-usual expectations for Kentucky last season.
However, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, that could be the case when several Wildcats realize their NBA dreams.
Koby Brea is the first Wildcat listed in Givony’s player rankings. He is slated to go 47th overall. He is followed by Amari Williams at 57th overall and Jaxson Robinson at 65th. Seeing Robinson get drafted would be really great for him after a devastating injury cut his season short this past Spring.
Lamont Butler ranks No. 90 in Givony’s rankings, while Andrew Carr is listed at No. 95.
The perception going into last season was that Kentucky’s roster was filled with cast-offs and role players. That turned out to be anything but the case. Look at what Koby Brea became, and look at how formidable Amari Williams became down low.
In addiiton, Lamont Butler and Andrew Carr both played through injuries to play big roles in Kentucky getting to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2019 this past March.
It’s going to be really great to see some of these players’ names called this week at the NBA Draft.
