It’s now a best-of-3 series between the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks.
The Phoenix Suns kicked off the 2021 NBA Finals by winning the first two games at home. The Milwaukee Bucks did what they were supposed to do, countering the Suns’ hot start with two wins of their own.
Now, we’re all squared up at 2-2 with Game 5 on Saturday night.
Phoenix will have two home games remaining while Game 6 will be held back at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. For now, the advantage goes to Phoenix as they’ll have their home crowd backing them twice.
The Suns have played much better at home as well. They won both the first two games by double figures. Having combined for -26 over their last two games, this series has truly been dictated by who has been on their home court.
Despite a 42-point effort from Devin Booker, Phoenix still lost in Game 4. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton combined for more than half the Bucks scoring. Jrue Holiday has also been absolutely locking down Chris Paul.
Coming into Game 3, many thought there was no possible way this series was going to go seven games. Now, it seems like that’s going to be the expectation as neither has shown much fortitude on the road.
The No. 2 seed in the West, the Suns powered through the Lakers, Nuggets, and Clippers. They’re facing their tallest task yet, and slowing down the two-time MVP much be their main point of focus.
For Milwaukee, it’s been Booker and Deandre Ayton putting in the work the last couple of games. However, Booker didn’t do much playmaking for his teammates, so although they allowed 42, players like Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson never joined in on the action much.
Both sides know what must happen for them to win. That said, who do you think will come out on top?
