The 151st Run for the Roses is set for later this afternoon — and the celebrities are making their media rounds ahead of post time.
FanDuel’s Maria Montgomery caught up with former Kentucky football players turned NFL pros, Will Levis (Titans) and Wan’Dale Robinson (Giants), to get their thoughts on being back in Kentucky and their picks for the big race. To little surprise, both Levis and Robinson are going with the betting favorite, Journalism, which currently holds the best odds at 7-2.
Levis says he’s even done some scouting on Journalism. They’ve got other bets planned, but Journalism is their pick to win the first leg of the Triple Crown.
When it comes to the Derby, these two UK alums have turned into Churchill Downs regulars over the last few years. It’s always nice to see some one-time ‘Cats coming back to where it all began. They sure seem to enjoy it, as well.
“The people. Reconnecting with the people that I love here in Kentucky,” Levis told Montgomery when asked his favorite part of coming back to the Bluegrass State. “If I get back to Kentucky once a year, it’s gonna be here. We make it a good tradition the last few years, and just happy to be back and excited for another good day of races.”
“I love coming home,” Robinson, who is originally from Kentucky, added. “The people of Kentucky, it speaks for itself. Anytime I get a chance to come back and see everybody and see some new faces, I’m always down for it.”
