Cincinnati Reds City Connect Record, Good or Bad?

April 6, 2024 by Last Word On Baseball

The Cincinnati Reds City Connect jersey was unveiled last season

Since 2021, Major League Baseball has slowly revealed City Connect uniforms for each team. With the Philadelphia Phillies’ new threads being revealed Friday, there are now 21 teams with City Connect jerseys. Some are better than others; some uniforms just don’t look good. But each one is unique to its city. The Cincinnati Reds City Connect jerseys were rolled out last May and received a positive review.

Since the Reds City Connect jerseys were released, the team was given a specific time to wear them. Every Friday night home game, the Reds will wear their all-black “CINCY” uniforms. 2024 is no different. Friday, April 5th, will be the first time this season the Reds City Connects will be on display. There’s an old saying, “Look good, play good.” So, just how good did the Reds play in their unique uniforms?

The boys are back tomorrow for the first City Connect Friday of the season!

Please note: There will be no post-game fireworks show on 4/5 due to the Ohio River level affecting the safe operation of the fireworks barge. Info on future Fireworks Fridays ➡ https://t.co/cBxQxgj0m3 pic.twitter.com/zoEsYBH6sm

What is the Cincinnati Reds Record While Wearing Their City Connects?

11 times during the 2023 season, the Reds city connects were worn. Over those 11 games, the Reds played to a 5-6 record. Over those six losses, the Reds lost by an average of 2.5 runs. Even with a losing record, City Connect night at Great American Ballpark usually brought an intense crowd. Friday nights are also postgame firework show nights in Cincinnati. Combined with the new uniforms, this seemed to bring a big crowd into the city.

The Reds City Connects can be found all over the stadium. Almost more than their traditional white or red jerseys. While there isn’t much flash to it, it’s simple but fits. All black with the Red popping off. And the stadium lights seem to make it look even better.

How Many Times Will They Be Worn in 2024?

With the Reds keeping the same theme of Friday night home games, there will be 12 chances to see the “CINCY” uniforms on display. If you haven’t yet seen them in person, 2024 will be the perfect time to do so. There are eight more teams left to reveal their city connect uniforms this season. It will be interesting to see how the Reds City connects stack up against the new ones released.
