The Cincinnati Reds are getting to work on filling out the Triple-A roster and trying to give themselves a roster there full of players with some big league time under their belts. This time around they’ve added right-handed pitcher Hagen Danner and first baseman/outfielder Michael Toglia, signing both of them to minor league deals.
Michael Toglia has spent parts of the last four seasons in MLB with the Colorado Rockies. He has really struggled to hit in three of those seasons, posting an OPS of .653, .507, and .611 in 2022, 2023, and 2025. But in 2024 he was solid, hitting .218/.311/.456 with 25 home runs in 116 games for the Rockies. And while I’m sure some of you were thinking it – 17 of his 25 home runs that year actually came on the road in what feels like an impossibility, but I double checked the numbers.
Toglia, a switch hitter, hasn’t performed better from one side of the plate than the other in his big league career. He’s hit .197/.282/.382 as a left-handed hitter and he’s hit .208/.267/.403 in his career as a right-handed hitter. He’s spent parts of the last four seasons in Triple-A and he’s hit very well there, including last season where he hit .331/.401/.624 in 42 games with Albuquerque. Most of his time in the field has been spent at first base, but he does have some experience in the corner outfield. You can see the career stats for Michael Toglia here.
Hagen Danner has also signed with the club. The 27-year-old has one game in the big leagues, pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays on August 11th of 2023. He recorded an out against the only hitter he faced that day.
In 2025 the right-handed reliever spent the full season in Triple-A with the Seattle Mariners organization. And from an ERA standpoint it was far and away the worst season of his career. In 56.1 innings he posted an ERA of 5.59 while giving up 64 hits, nine home runs, walking a career high 21 batters, and striking out 54. You can see the career stats for Hagen Danner here.
