Andrew Abbott
The second half of the season has been an up-and-down one for Andrew Abbott after making his first All-Star team in 2025. In his 12 games since the All-Star break he’s posted a 3.75 ERA, but the Reds have gone 4-8 in those starts. In three of his last four starts he hasn’t completed the 5th inning, but the last time out he also didn’t give up a run in a 1-0 win over the Cubs.
The splits this season against Abbott are favorable for the All-Star. With that said there’s not much difference when it comes to both average and on-base percentage, but when it comes to slugging the difference is noticeable. Right-handed hitters don’t hit for a lot of power against him, but compared to lefties they certainly show a big advantage in how much they do hit for.

Robert Gasser
It’s been mostly a lost season for Robert Gasser as he recovers from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in 2024. In late July he began a rehab assignment in the minor leagues. He was eased back into games, even after being activated and optioned to Triple-A at the end of August. He’s only thrown more than four innings in two of his 15 games. His last start was his only big league start of the season and he threw 45 pitches and three innings against St. Louis.
Given the sample size and situation he’s pitched in this year, looking at his splits – even the minor league ones – aren’t going to be of any use to us.
