On the season as a whole, J.A. Happ has a 6.24 ERA, but since joining the Cardinals he’s posted a 4.72 ERA in seven starts. He faced the Reds less than two weeks ago and allowed seven runs and didn’t record an out in the 2nd inning.
Right-handed hitters have hit .301/.354/.569 against Happ this season. Lefties don’t get many opportunities against him, but ones that do have hit .277/.325/.420 in 121 plate appearances against him. Notes Worth Nothing
Jose Barrero and Tyler Naquin are out
After last night’s collision that saw Tyler Naquin exit the game, both Naquin and Jose Barrero are out of the lineup today. Prior to the game this afternoon manager David Bell noted that Barrero would likely be available off of the bench today and that Naquin was “in pretty good shape, considering (the collision)”. He was still going to be checked out prior to the game, so as of the time Bell spoke to the media he was unsure if Naquin would be available today or not.
