Cincinnati is going to look to pick up where they left off last night when the Reds scored eight runs in the final three innings against the Cardinals to complete a comeback win over St. Louis. With less than two weeks left and being 2.0 games back of the wild card spot, there’s next to no room for error for Cincinnati. Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 7:45pm ET.

Andrew Abbott
It’s been a very good year for Andrew Abbott, but since the All-Star game he’s had a few tough starts mixed in there. The last time out was not one of those games, though, as he allowed a run in 8.0 innings against the Padres.
The splits for Abbott this season aren’t huge, but he has been better against lefties than righties. It’s not in average or on-base percentage where the different comes, it’s in the power output. Left-handed hitters aren’t showing any power at all. Right-handed hitters are showing moderate amounts of power against him when they do get hits.

Michael McGreevy
Consistency has been a bit of an issue for Michael McGreevy in the big leagues this season. Three starts ago he allowed a run against the Reds in 6.0 innings but didn’t strike out a single batter. In his next start he allowed six runs in 4.0 innings, but rebounded with 6.0 innings of 1-run ball his last time out.
The splits against McGreevy have been big this year. He’s been dominant against righties, who have a .610 OPS against him. Left-handed hitters are hitting well against him. They don’t walk much, but they are making a lot of contact, hitting over .300, and slugging .500 against him.

The Reds top prospect was named the Florida State League MVP this afternoon. Duno, a 19-year-old catcher finished second in the league in batting average and hits. He led the league in doubles, home runs, runs scored, runs batted in, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS. Two of his teammates also were named to the league’s postseason All-Star team (they no longer have a midseason All-Star team or game). You can read more about all three players here.
