But, nicknames for everyone!
Brandon Larson Honorary Star of the Night
Robbie Tenerowicz – 3 for 3, 3B, HR, BB, 2 R
Michael “Suite” Mariot was crazy good last night. He only gave up on unearned run over six innings on a hit, two walks, while striking out seven. Our favorite muscle man, Michael “Two Way” Lorenzen struck out two in a scoreless frame as he works his way back to Cincy. However, the offense sputtered, once again, squandering good pitching. They didn’t even muster one extra base hit. TJ “You Got A” Friedl “In Me” went 2 for 3 with a walk.
The old boss was better than the new boss last night. “Jean-Claude Van” Graham Ashcraft had his first honest bad start of the year. I think it also breaks his streak of like forty three straight scoreless innings or whatever crazy run it was. Ashcraft gave up seven earned runs (eight total) over just an inning (5 H, 3 BB, 3 K). Sometimes you just don’t have it. Dylan “Muffin” Baker struck out two in a scoreless inning. The Chattanooga offense did do some work but it did not manifest into runs. Drew “Stallion” Mount went 3 for 5 with a dinger, and Robbie “Ray” Tenerowicz went 3 for 3 with a dinger of his own, a triple, a walk, and two runs scored. Brian “Sey Hey” Rey got himself on base three times with two single and a walk in four at bats.
Dayton has their game banged due to rain and that’s a shame.
Bryce “Bruce Banner” Bonnin pitched well. In a shorter affair, Bonnin gave up only two earned over four innings on three hits, one walk, while striking out three. He also doesn’t have a ton of work in this year while what he has put in has been good. Bonnin is a 2020 3rd round pick out of Texas Tech. However, the bullpen wasn’t up to snuff to keep the Tortugas from falling. Ivan “The Amazing” Johnson continues to turn his season around after an early season struggle. Johnson went 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored. Michael “Tripping” Triana drove in three runs with two singles.
