Go Reds?

The Cincinnati Reds need to find themselves in a hurry if they’re going to make 2025 a season truly any different than that of 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996, 1994, 1993, 1992, or 1991, let alone 1990.

They’re struggling in the sense that this team is no longer given the honeymoon status of ‘rebuilding.’

This club, if we read back through the statements made by the owners and management in their decisions of the last handful of seasons, is supposed to be something by now. It’s not supposed to be tanking, and it’s been ‘rebuilt’ from top to bottom.

They’re supposed to be winning more games than they lose, angling themselves for a late-July addition that fixes the one glaring problem and propels them to the postseason. Frankly, they’re bordering on being a mile away from even being a mile away from that this season, and the next five weeks of their schedule is ten times tougher than what they’ve faced through the first 60 games of this season.

It’s the Milwaukee Brewers in town tonight to begin that gauntlet, with the Reds at home for the next six games. Step on the goddamn gas and make it happen now, Reds, or you’re going to be five games under .500 in a blink and trying to find takers for Nick Martinez, Brady Singer, and Jake Fraley within the month.

First pitch is set for 7:10 PM ET on Monday evening in GABP, with Singer on the mound for the Reds opposite Brewers starter Aaron Civale.
