The Cincinnati Reds are going to try and avoid being swept this afternoon and they made a bunch of roster moves to try and improve their roster this morning to do so (see the moves below). The Milwaukee Brewers will try to win their 15th game in a row, which would extend their franchise record winning streak. This afternoon’s first pitch is scheduled for 1:40pm ET.

Andrew Abbott
The last time out, Andrew Abbott pitched into the 8th inning against Philadelphia but his final inning saw him allow three runs in a 4-1 loss. The All-Star faced the Brewers on June 4th and allowed five runs in 6.0 innings in a game that Milwaukee won 9-1.
The splits this season for Abbott aren’t large, but right-handed hitters do have an advantage in one area – they are hitting for a little more power. Lefties don’t get many chances to face him, but when they do they aren’t doing much.

Jose Quintana
August has been a good month so far for Jose Quintana as he’s allowed six runs in 17.0 innings (3.18 ERA) against the Nationals, Braves, and Pirates. Earlier in the year when the Brewers faced the Reds, Quintana missed Cincinnati.
The splits against Quintana this year are interesting. Righties hit for a few more singles, giving them a slight advantage in average and on-base percentage. But it’s lefties that are showing a big advantage in power against him this season.

News and Notes
Jake Fraley DFA’d among multiple roster moves
The Reds designated Jake Fraley for assignment this morning. They also optioned reliever Joe La Sorsa to Triple-A and called up outfielder Will Benson and reliever Connor Phillips. You can read more about the moves from our earlier piece if you want some more details.
Wade Miley is hurt again
Injured earlier in the year, Wade Miley hadn’t pitched in two months. But on Friday he pitched for Chattanooga on a rehab assignment. Things didn’t go well as he was feeling it the next day. The Reds have now called him back from rehab according to a report from C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic.
