Reds pitcher Rhett Lowder completes his longest outing in Arizona

November 2, 2025 by Red Leg Nation

While much of the baseball world was getting ready to watch Game 7 of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays, the Arizona Fall League was just having a normal afternoon on their schedule. Rhett Lowder was scheduled to make his 4th start of the fall for Peoria in a road game against Surprise.

After tossing a perfect 1st inning on just 10 pitches, the Cincinnati Reds pitcher had to work a bit more in the 2nd. He would pick up a strikeout to lead off the inning, but then he gave up a long home run to the next batter. Lowder would later give up a double but escaped the inning with a strikeout.

With just 28 pitches thrown through the first two frames, Rhett Lowder headed back to the mound for the 3rd inning. It was the first time he had done so in Arizona this fall, having completed 2.0 innings in each of his first three starts with Peoria. It wasn’t the best inning for Lowder as he got a groundout to start things out but then walked the second batter on four pitches before giving up his second home run of the day. He then hit the next batter before inducing a grounder that turned into an inning-ending double play. That play also ended the day for the right-handed starter.

Lowder would wind up throwing 44 pitches on the day and just 26 of them were strikes. He gave up three hits, walked a batter, his a batter, gave up three runs, and had two strikeout. Among his four outings for the Javelinas it was probably the worst of them all. Overall he’s now thrown 9.0 innings and allowed nine hits, five runs, two home runs, hit two batters, walked a batter, and has struck out eight of the 35 hitters that he has faced.
