The Cincinnati Reds Spring Breakout Roster has been released

March 6, 2025 by Red Leg Nation

The Spring Breakout series was a success in it’s first year in 2024. Each organization put together a team of their top prospects and everyone played at least one game against another organization. The Cincinnati Reds played in two of those games. This year they will only be playing in one and they will be facing off against the prospect team from the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday March 16th at 7:40pm ET. That will be the final game of the Spring Breakout schedule for 2025. You will be able to watch the game on MLB Network, MLB.tv, or MLB.com. And today we found out who will be on the team and which players you will get to watch.

Pitchers

  • Chase Burns
  • Luke Hayden
  • Arij Fransen
  • Zach Maxwell
  • Luis Mey
  • Chase Petty
  • Connor Phillips
  • Cole Schoenwetter
  • Adam Serwinowski

Catchers

  • Connor Burns
  • Alfredo Duno
  • Michael Trautwein

Infielders

  • Edwin Arroyo
  • Leo Balcazar
  • Ricardo Cabrera
  • Tyler Callihan
  • Cam Collier
  • Tyson Lewis
  • Sammy Stafura
  • Sal Stewart
  • Peyton Stovall

Outfielders

  • Jay Allen II
  • Kyle Henley
  • Carlos Jorge
  • Arnaldo Lantigua
  • Ethan O’Donnell
  • Hector Rodriguez (pictured above)

The roster is subject to change. And it may because as we found out yesterday, Cam Collier injured his thumb in his last game played. There isn’t much detail yet about the injury and if it will cost him any significant time – he’s expected to see a medical professional about it today.

What we do know is that the initial roster features 17 of the Reds top 25 prospects and nine of the top 10. Rhett Lowder is the only player in the top 10 that isn’t here and he’s currently working on coming back from some elbow discomfort. Two other players in the top 25 are still in big league camp and competing for a spot on the roster (Blake Dunn and Rece Hinds).

Two of the more interesting guys on this roster are guys that you likely have never had a chance to see play. Tyson Lewis was the Reds 2nd round draft pick last year out of high school. He’s got all of the tools, but he’s never played in a professional game at this point. Then there’s Arnaldo Lantigua, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers this past offseason. The now 19-year-old hit .301/.430/.575 with 19 extra-base hits in 49 games last season for the Dodgers Dominican Summer League team. He’s in the US for the first time this spring.

Another lesser known but interesting prospect on the team is Kyle Henley. He’s one of the fastest players in the organization, but he’s more than just a speedster. He’s got some power potential to tap into as well. Last year he hit .280/.372/.406 with 35 steals and was caught just three times while playing for the Arizona Complex League Reds.
