This morning Keith Law of The Athletic released his 2026 Top 100 Prospects list. You can check it out here, but it does require a subscription to The Athletic to read. The Cincinnati Reds had three players make his Top 100. Two of those guys have shown up on other publications lists this offseason, but one guy is on one for the first time.
Sal Stewart was the top prospect from the Reds organization according to Law. It’s not too surprising that most places rank Stewart as the top prospect in the organization. He’s ready to play in the big leagues right now, has some limited big league time under his belt already with some success, and he hit .309/.383/.524 with 20 home runs and 34 doubles in 118 games between Double-A and Triple-A in the 2025 season. Between his production to this point and what he could do in the future, that all led to his being ranked as the 19th best prospect in baseball on this list.
You’ve got to go to the bottom half of the Top 100 to see the next player from the Reds organization. But down at #68 you’ll find shortstop Tyson Lewis. The 2024 2nd round pick has explosive tools with plus speed and elite-level exit velocities (and we don’t mean for just 19-year-olds). He made his debut with the Arizona Complex League Reds this year and after 46 games was promoted to Single-A Daytona. Between his two stops he played in 81 games and hit .311/.376/.486 with 16 doubles, six triples, nine home runs, and he stole 27 bases. He also struck out 102 times – an area he will need to improve upon as he continues his development in the minors. This was the first list he has made this offseason.
A dozen spots later is the final of the three Reds prospects on the list in catcher Alfredo Duno. The top signing in the club’s 2023 international signing class, he was limited to being the designated hitter in his first season due to an elbow issue and then missed most of the next season after fracturing a rib. But in 2025 he played a full season and won the Florida State League’s Most Valuable Player award after hitting .287/.430/.518 with more walks than strikeouts, finishing second in the league in average, and leading the league in nearly every other offensive category except for triples and stolen bases.
There was a bit of a surprising omission on the list. Starting pitcher Rhett Lowder didn’t make the cut for Law’s Top 100. A year ago Law had him at the #48 spot on his list. In 2025 the right-handed starter would only pitch in the minor leagues and he only did so on multiple rehab assignments as he missed the start of the season with an elbow issue, then missed most of the season with an oblique injury that happened while on a rehab start with Louisville, and then was shut down late in the year on another rehab assignment in Triple-A when his shoulder didn’t quite recover after an outing. Lowder did return a few weeks later to pitch in the Arizona Fall League, making four starts for Peoria.
With Tyson Lewis making this list, that makes five Reds prospects overall who have been named to the various Top 100 lists this offseason by quality publications. Sal Stewart and Alfredo Duno have made all of the lists, while Lewis, Rhett Lowder, and 2025’s 1st round pick Steele Hall have made at least one of the others.
You can see the stats for all of the players at the links below:
- Sal Stewart
- Tyson Lewis
- Alfredo Duno
- Rhett Lowder
- Steele Hall (no stats – yet to make his debut)
