Scott Barlow
After throwing eight pitches, getting two outs, and stranding both runners on the bases that he entered the game with, Scott Barlow is back on the mound tonight for the Reds. He will be making his first ever big league start after coming out of the bullpen for 432 games. Nick Lodolo is dealing with an illness and was scratched from his start and Cincinnati will be going with a bullpen game today.
Barlow has pitched two innings twice this season – once in April and once in early August. The last time he threw more than one inning in an outing was on August 18th when he threw 1.1 innings against the Angels.

| LHH | 101 | 18 | 4 | 1 | 3 | 15 | 28 | .217 | .356 | .398 |
Jose Berrios
It’s been inconsistent last two months for Jose Berrios. Since the start of July he’s posted a 5.33 ERA in 10 starts. His last time out, though, was one of his best starts in quite a while as he allowed two runs in 6.1 innings against Miami.
The splits are interesting for Berrios. Righties and lefties are hitting for nearly identical averages. Right-handed hitters walk significantly less, but make a lot more contact. Righties are also hitting for plenty of power, too. Left-handed hitters are not hitting for any power at all against him.

Roster Moves
The club also announced that they had called up left-handed reliever Reiver Sanmartin from Triple-A, optioned Sam Moll to Triple-A, and designated Joe La Sorsa for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Sanmartin. We wrote more about Sanmartin here and how well he has pitched this season and more specifically in the second half.
