The Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox played three innings before having their game halted by rain Tuesday night at Fenway Park. Tonight’s game will resume tomorrow in the top of the fourth inning at 2:30 pm EDT. The pitchers for tomorrow have yet to be determined.
It’ll pick back up in the fourth inning. Both teams have to decide on whether or not the extra man will be available for one game or both.
The Reds will have a few options — go full bullpen the rest of the day for Game 1. Use the scheduled starter (Martinez) to pick up Game 1…

It looked like Tuesday’s game was going to end up as a carbon copy of Monday night’s game. Back-to-back doubles by Jarren Duran and Roman Anthony, followed by a one-out single from Carlos Narváez, helped the Red Sox get out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. However, Brady Singer recovered nicely on back-to-back strikeouts to stop the damage.
The Reds were able to get one run back in the third, when Will Benson and Christian Encarnacion-Strand both singled to open the inning. After a TJ Friedl sacrifice bunt, Matt McLain hit a ground ball to third base that scored Benson to cut the deficit in half. In the bottom of the third, the Red Sox grounds crew was prepping the tarp and lightning could be seen in the distance as Singer worked around a two-out walk in the bottom of the third to keep the score at 2-1. As soon as the inning came to a close, the tarp was pulled and the game entered a delay.
